As a referee, I've never heard the terms active and passive offsides discussed (by those names) in clinics. You're offside if you were in an offside position and participated in the play. Otherwise, you're not.
- That's interesting. I have heard those terms, but primarily in commentary. But checking over at the Laws to the Game, and they don't seem to be official terms. It may call for some rewording.--D 08:25, 31 March 2007 (EDT)
